For each course or programme you teach or coordinate, give students clear guidance on how GenAI tools should and should not be used. The examples below reflect the GSLS boundary of Level 3 on the UU AI Index and can be adjusted for your specific course. If you’re operating at a different Index level, make sure the permitted uses listed reflect that level instead. A disclosure statement is mandatory for all written assignments as part of the GSLS assessment rubrics.

AI disclosure agreement for assignments

This course operates at Level 3 of the UU AI Index. GenAI tools may be used to improve the clarity and quality of your own work, for example to refine your writing style or get feedback on your argumentation, grammar, and sentence structure (recommended tool: ReallyWrite), to debug code you have written, or to generate standard, boilerplate code that isn’t itself the skill being assessed. GenAI may not be used to generate content on your behalf, produce complete sections of work, or significantly alter your original intent, beyond standard code or boilerplate.

Upon submission of your assignment, you are required to disclose the extent to which these tools were used. Any AI-assisted content must be properly cited, indicating the tool and version used in parentheses or a footnote. At the end of your paper please include the following statement. Failure to adequately disclose your GenAI use will be treated in the same way as fraud.

This paper used / did not use GenAI for the following components. Choose all that apply: improving writing clarity, grammar checking, feedback on argumentation, feedback on sentence structure, debugging code, generating standard/boilerplate code, or other (if other, please provide a description of use).
